As he wraps his nationwide, headline Back to School tour this week, the American Idol finalist has asked his fans to have some fun and help him create his next video, lip-syncing to the original vocals for Sligh’s debut, top 10 AC hit single, “Empty Me.”
“‘Empty Me’ is a special song, and I always knew that the video for the song would need to be something special, too,” explains Sligh. “As we’ve seen people react to the song, I knew I wanted the video to be something involving the fans. I say this every night in concert, but this song is a simple prayer that we should be praying whether you’re a dog walker, a cheerleader, the President of the United States or some chubby guy that was on American Idol – to be emptied of ourselves so we can be filled with Christ. So, I want dog walker, cheerleaders and maybe even the President (or maybe a candidate for President) to video themselves doing cool stuff lip-syncing to my song!”
Video submissions can be made as of today through October 24th by emailing the file here.
The length of each video submitted will be limited to 35 seconds, and depending on the first letter of a fan’s last name, they’ll be asked to submit a video for a certain portion of the song. Fans are encouraged to record in non-traditional situations (in an elevator, in line at an amusement park, in the back of class during a lecture, at the Washington Monument, at Mt. Rushmore, at Grand Canyon, during a football game, while water-skiing, etc). In addition, any quality video file is welcome, whether that be via use of a cell phone or a broadcast quality camera.
Full guidelines for submission are available now right here.
