The western Kentucky-based band has been busy this summer creating a buzz surrounding their five song EP, Over and Over, which released in April. Comprised of Craig Felker (lead vocals), Jason Killebrew (drums), L.J. Granstaff (guitar) and Joel Purdy (bass), Special D has been playing together for three years, sharing the stage with successful artists such as Jars of Clay, Third Day, TobyMac, Family Force 5, Skillet, Jason Morant, and DecembeRadio.
Here is what a few reviews had to say:
“Kentucky-based rockers Special D have that uncanny ability to incorporate the raw energy of a live show into their recordings. That frenetic, feel-the-sweat energy makes for one incredible musical experience, even on a short five-track EP like Over and Over.” – Christianity Today, 4 stars
“The results find charismatic front man Craig Felker and his cohorts turning in an incredibly inventive blend of raucous, Midwestern melodic rock, the surf-inspired sounds of Switchfoot and the ferocious guitars of Foo Fighters.” – CCM Magazine
“Expect a lyrical spread addressing everything from pursuing dreams to shaking off sin, wrapped around relevant and relatable language for both the spiritually and worldly minded.” – Christian Single, 4 ½ stars
Keep a look out for what these guys do in the future!
